Send the Rain

Dust blows across a desert land, longing for Your precious rain.
The ground is dry and parched, yearning for Your Word to melt hearts.
The soil is scorched and blistering hungering for Your truth and wisdom.
The plants are wilting and dying, craving Your Spirit presences.
The seed has sent forth it roots, but it cannot grow and flourish
Underneath the oppressive, dry winds of traditions and rituals.
In blazing boiling hot sun of apathy, it cannot produce.
It need the present of the Creator of all things.
Lord send, yet again fresh rains of hope and joy
To move across the land with it healing power
And restore the gift of life to its sickly dying vegetation.
Free us from death grip on our cold uncaring hearts.
Allow the seed that has been planted, bring forth their fruit abundantly.
Permit the harvester once again reap the bounty of the land.
Let the living water burst forth and let the miracles of life abounds
Sending out new and tender shoots to claim once again this land.
From the rocks of this sizzling bareness, give the drink of life once more
To quench the thirsty creatures within it infertile domain.
Once again, allow your praises will be sung in joyful jubilee.
The inhabitance of the land to dance in celebration
Hands clapping, arm outspreaded in praise, tongues speaking.
Cause Your creation to know how great and sweet Your goodness is.
Rain down Your mercies and blessing upon us once again.
Do not forbid Your Holy Spirit to revive us once more
Or we will return to the dust from which we were formed
Incapable of birthing new life into Your kingdom
Or giving glory to Your Holy name.
