The Babe

Come let us worship the newborn King, sleeping in Bethlehem.
The babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and laying in a manger.
Come let us praise He, who brings salvations to the souls of man.
The son of God was born in a lowly stable in the quiet of the night
While all the world slept unaware of their deliverance.
God came down in the form of an infant and dwelled with man.
The cattle and ox stood and watched in wonder at the sight.
His birth was announced by the angels’ sweet song across the heavens
To the shepherd watching over their flocks of sheep,
While a star of great beauty pointed man’s way.
Angels stood guarding the future of the world and sang a lullaby.
Let us bow in thanksgiving to Him of whom all creation sings.
Allow us look adoringly upon the face of the sleeping babe.
Hallelujah! Worthy is the Lamb so sweet and innocent.
Oh, heart skip and dance for joy at this precious priceless gift
Send down from heaven’s glories to restore man.
Reach out and take it freely inside the depth of your soul.
May you never take it for granted or be too busy to remember it.
Sleep peacefully oh little Lion of Judah, grow strong.
The time is coming when your roar will be heard around the world
And the mention of Your name will cause creation to tremble.
Let us kneel before your cradle and give honor and glory
To the one that will one day rule the heavens and all nature.
Freely and lovingly, let us surrender our hearts to this child.
Let us bring the gift of praise to Him alone
For He alone is holy, without sin or guilty.
Throw down your crowns and lay your treasure at His feet
In submission to the perfect, will of the Messiah.
Let us look with awe upon His face and the Holy life-giving light
That radiated from His simple presents into the darkness of the world.
Let our hearts remain resting in the peace that He brings.
Let our souls drink in the joy of the His long awaited coming
And its promise of mercy and grace penetrate inside our being.
There was no room for Him there so many years ago
Today let our ears hear His knock and open wide the door
To the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ.
Let the gates of Jerusalem raise her voice in song once more
The promise of Israel, Mary’s babe, Immanuel,
The Star of David has returned to bring joy to the world.
Welcome, the mighty and everlasting master of our souls,
We receive your blessings and we will glorify your name
For all that you have done for us until time cease to exist.
Happy birthday, my Lord Jesus Christ.
